Under the scholarship scheme student could apply for Ph.D. programs (or combined MA/Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D.) in health research; natural sciences and/or engineering research; and social sciences and/or humanities research.

The eligibility for a Vanier CGS is that you must be nominated by only one Canadian institute, which must have received Vanier CGS quota. A student must be pursuing his first doctoral degree (including joint undergraduate/graduate research program such as MD/Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., JD/Ph.D. – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the Ph.D. portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding; By May 1, 2020, the student must not have completed more than 20 months of doctoral studies. The candidates must have achieved the first-class average from their institutions in each of the last two years of study for which they are encouraged to contact the institutions for determination of the first-class average.

The scholarships will be beneficial for students, as it would provide $50,000 per year for three years. The applications are initially prepared by the students and submitted to the nominating institution by their internal deadline system using the Research Net application system. After which the nominating institute shares the recommended nominations with Vanier-Banting Secretariat by 6th November 2019. The student must not hold, or have held, a doctoral-level scholarship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC to undertake or complete a doctoral degree. The procedure of the application is that student must have the nomination from a Canadian institution, as the candidates cannot apply directly for the CGS program. There are two ways to initiate the application. Firstly, the student informs the faculty of the studies at the selected institution of their willingness to join the Vanier CGS program or secondly, the institution starts the nomination process by contacting the students who are willing to join the program. Smog is a kind of intense air pollution formed as a result of fog and air pollutants such as Sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, smoke and other particles in the air. Classic smog occurs due to burning of large amounts of coal, plastic, vehicular and industrial emissions. It is visible and can be sensed by human beings. Smog usually prevails in plain areas; Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Kasur etc. It is harmful for the health of human beings and affects infants, teens, old aged people, outdoor workers and people with respiratory issues. Areas with heavy smog affects the+ citizens of that area in the following ways:

• Eyes and throat irritation

Smog is caused due to the reasons stated below:

• Coal being used as a fuel in automobiles

Coal is a form of natural resource used for various purposes. A basic purpose of coal is its usage as a fuel in the vehicles. Whenever a vehicle starts, coal is burned in the form of fuel and gives the vehicle power to move.

• Emissions from coal combustion

Burning of coal produces large amounts of carbon dioxide/carbon monoxide, mercury emissions and other dangerous gaseous metals.

• Transport pollutants

Other pollutants from vehicles are released into the air and mix with other transport pollutants to make mixture of harmful gases.

• Smoke and others emissions from factory chimneys

Industrial areas are usually hit by smog due to emissions from factory burnings and production of goods.

• Forest/ Agriculture and Stubble crop burnings

Burning of trees, agricultural lands and field crops result in the production of injurious gases which get mix with fog to form smog.

• Photochemical reactions

Photochemical Reactions take place as a result of the absorption of energy in the form of light. Other than this, these are the reactions that take place through the fusion of various chemicals in the air with sunlight.

• Cutting of trees and other plantation

Deforestation is a major result of smog and weather changes in the plain areas. Plants and trees maintain the temperature of an area and keeps it cool. Cutting of trees results in warming, climate change and things like “smog” to persist.

Coronavirus is almost in each country with very dreadful consequences. In Pakistan we need to be careful from the virus because each day the number of infected patients is increasing. Even we see lockdown and no more office, no more shopping malls entertainment but still situation is getting worse. The government may issue an order for curfew within the cities of Pakistan.

Coronavirus Confirmed Cases in Pakistan

Till today there are almost 1595 confirmed cases of corona virus. And 16 people have already lost their lives. But these deceased persons have affected how many persons? It is still a question because obviously, they were living in some street, in some area, in some city and in some family. Conditions are very alarming because in Punjab there are almost 599 cases which are confirmed till 30^th March 2020.

In Sindh province we witness almost 502 cases, in KPK the number is 192, Punjab province is also in trouble because it has almost 599 cases. In Balochistan 141 affected people have been found. Over 116 people got virus who belong to GB province of Pakistan.

Coronavirus Cases Worldwide

The number of cases for infected people with a coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the United States has exceeded 100 thousand (1,25,433), it was confirmed through the data received from Johns Hopkins University. The states of New York (more than 37 thousand), New Jersey (6.8 thousand) and California (3.8 thousand) suffered most from the effects of the spread of infection. The death number crossed 2,201 in USA.

Ventilators are out of stock and nurses are forced to use same masks which they were using on the first day. The recommended usage is that each nurse or doctor must use a mask only once per patient. But here is the different case, masks are not available and number of infected patients are increasing on daily basis.

The staff in medical platforms is limited, medicines are limited and the health of medical staff is also in danger.

As per the statement of Dr. Anthony Fauci 100k to 200k people can go into valley of death after seeing the current situation. But its our target and it is a target of several countries to find a way to fight with courage, he added. As per his statement, most of the countries were looking at US but problem is still dangerous in New York and virus is travelling into other regions like New Orleans and several other parts of United States of America.

Most cases were reported in the states of New York, New Jersey and California. More than 1.5 thousand people died from complications caused by the disease in the country. The largest number of deaths was recorded in New York (366). The number of recovered was 862 people.

On March 27, the United States gave another sad news to the world that the number of coronavirus infected people, bypassed China and Italy.

On March 27, he signed a law on financial support for the country’s economy in the amount of $ 2.2 trillion. These funds will go to additional financing of the healthcare system, business support and direct payments to Americans.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of infected COVID-19 worldwide exceeded 593 thousand and more than twenty-seven (27) thousand people died.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of March 27, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the world exceeded 509 thousand. According to current data from Johns Hopkins University, 601 thousand people have already become infected in the world, more than 131 thousand have recovered.

The front-runner in the number of confirmed cases, according to Johns Hopkins University, was the United States (104,837), which bypassed Italy (86,498) and China (81,948). Following are Spain (65,719), Germany (53,340) and France (33,414).

The doctors are examining the blood samples of people who recover from this virus as well to cope with the issue.

Each of the participants should present his/her findings in order to bring any kinds of confirmed weapon against coronavirus immediately.
