It was established in 1974 as the second privileged Open University in the world and the first in Asia. It is situated in Islamabad, Pakistan with many campuses in different regions. Admission in AIOU:

Applicants just need to download the admission form from the AIOU website and fill in the required information according to the relevant program.

Attach all attested documents (Academic Certificates, Mark Sheets, copy of CNIC, copy of Domicile) and four passport size photographs with the form and submit it at the AIOU office or send through the post along with the processing fee deposit slip of Rs. 500/-.

Fee can be submitted at any designated bank e.g. National Bank Pakistan, MCB Bank, First Women Bank Limited, and Allied Bank Limited.

Once your admission process will be completed, you will get the course-related books delivered to your given address.

Jobs at AIOU:

Job opening for qualified teachers is advertised when required. A walk-in interview is held at the time of the initial hiring process.

The interview schedule with detailed eligibility criteria, time, date, and place are mentioned in the advertisement for candidates’ convenience.

After the interviews are held, self-oriented candidates are contacted to proceed with the further process. Hiring is mostly done at the main and regional campuses.

Study at AIOU:

The teaching method in open distance system of education is quite similar to the regular system of education apart from the facilities students avail within the College or University. AIOU is associated with the Ministry of Education / Higher Education Commission system and follows the same pattern of studies. The only difference in the distanced study is that students are facilitated with education at their doorsteps away from any hassle. Hence, following the non-formal method of correspondence, broadcast on radio and television, textbooks and reading materials are prepared on their own and few training centers along with part-time tutors have been placed in nearby areas to facilitate students if required.

In the form of cassettes, a student is also provided with relevant tutorials that are available through radio and television for their convenience.

Advancement in education has been witnessed with the extensive development of satellite and internet through which students can acquire knowledge in hand.

It has also facilitated students with an enormous library that has rich resources and countless books in it.

Lecture and Training:

For keeping students in touch through continuous guidance, there is an arrangement of study centers in different regions. During the semester, students can take help from educationists and experts appointed for their supervision.

You must be thinking that how come a huge number of students can seek guidance from one or two teachers? let’s make it clear, that a group of students has been assigned to a specific teacher who will guide, teach, and help them according to the requirement onset time and days. Assignment and Assessment:

Here comes the assessment part of distanced education during the studies to ensure students’ performance and understanding of knowledge. After a short span of the scheduled time, pupils are asked to submit two or more required assignments as compulsion so that their level of motivation and indulgence can be evaluated by the teachers. assignment topics are given to students online or in meetings. They submit their assignments in the same way and then supervisors keep a record of their development and return the assignment with their remarks and feedback. At the end of the course, students may have to fill in a questionnaire apart from the non-credit subjects.

There are several opportunities in the form of practical training demonstrations, seminars, and workshops arranged by highly qualified teachers at different study centers to motivate them in building up a skilled and developed personality in the future. Internship Opportunities:

At the end of certain courses, students are also advised to attain experience from an internship at a relevant workplace. Courses that require an internship at the end of the course may be as follows; Industrial or business-related programs, Computer Science, BBA, and MBA program.

Examination:

Students are informed about the exams via date sheets. The final examination is held on a regular pattern at some centers at the end of the year or semester. It includes 30% marks of assignments. Total passing marks are 40% in final exams while it can vary according to the current policies and education structure.
